arh1a Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place but wondering if someone could shed some light on this. I have a laptop which will not pick up USB keys or USB hard drives. When you plug them in and go into Device Manager you can see it there as an unknown device like it needs a driver for it. I've tried to install the driver even though there built into Windows 7 already and just says drivers are not available. Only thing I can think of is the laptop has Sophos SafeGuard and Sophos Antivirus installed which I am thinking might be blocking the use of USB storage devices. I'm not familiar with Sophos SafeGuard or Sophos Antivirus so just wonder if there is a setting that needs changing to enable it? Hopefully it is something to do with Sophos and there is an easy fix for this. Thanks in advance
plexer Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 There is certainly that functionality built in to the Sophos platform. Ben 1

arh1a Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Does anyone know how to do this? I've looked on the Sophos server settings and on the Sophos settings on the laptop but cant find anything.
hallb15 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Do you have Sophos Enterprise Console on the server? If so, open it then look for your Policies (on the dashboard they are in the bottom left) and find the Device Control policy. Double click to open it and look for Removable Storage. That's the one that relates to USB. Theres also Secure Removable storage for, you guessed it, secure USB devices. 1
arh1a Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Yes Sophos Enterprise Console is on the server so I will have a look at the settings you have mentioned. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction
