opening dmg files, no mountable file systems *FIXED*

Hi All

I have a really strange thing happening...I noticed last week when doing flash updates that 3 of our macs wouldnt mount any DMG files. Here's what I've tried.

Restore OSX...No Luck

Complete rebuild. Working yesterday.

Install of Sibelius & Garage band...All working.

Come in this morning & find that it is now back to the same error.

Google has not turned up anything useful.

If anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks

M

Does the Flash Player update released yesterday (v15.0.0.223) still have the same issue?

Are you using the "DMG installer for System Administrators" from Adobe's distribution page?

Should have said, this happens with every DMG file, no matter which location i open it from, network, external hdd etc...The same files work on other macs. I can't put my finger on the problem, as was working last night, come in today & it isn't, nothing has changed, mac hasn't even been switched off.

Do you have any .mobileconfig profiles installed? I had the same problem a little while ago and it turned out that the user-side profile file had somehow caused this. I fixed it by recreating the mobileconfig file and redeploying it.

A short term test is to remove the user profile and reboot the Mac.

Does it make any difference if you try mounting a DMG through Terminal?

sudo hdiutil attach ~/Desktop/Example.dmg

No dice... hdiutil: attach failed - no mountable file systems

I took a time machine backup yesterday before binding to OD/AD & installing the profiles. I'm going to restore to this & try with a new mobile config file & see if the issue reoccurs, in the meantime if anyone has a fix for the other 2 macs that have the issue, without me having to rebuild them, then that would be much appreciated. :)

also notice, that I added it to a group in WGM & save, however it removed itself on close & reopen, even though the settings are applying.

Here was the fix:- Remove machine from AD/WGM/OD

Unbind at the client end.

Uninstall any profiles.

Restart.

Rebind to AD/OD Server

Reboot, Install profiles manually.

Now working.

Phew.

Cheers guys.
