A long time ago an ex member of staff wrote the school a calendar database which now only works on 'certain' PC's.

It's an MDE file with a menu which you click through to choose this academic year and it should then launch a view where you can view and edit the calendar.

As you can see from the two screenshots it goes a bit weird on the majority of computers in the school - but does work on others.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

The data is not linked to any external databases and on PC's where it works it can work from any location.

Any help appreciated.

My guess is that there's some compatibility issues between the version of Access it was developed in and Access 2013 although not sure why it's working on some machines and not others if they are all running the same Office version.

I don't think it's possible to edit an mde file (if it is please let me know how) though so unless you also have a copy of the original mdb file for it the application might need to be redeveloped. Or just move to a third party calendar application.

This is now resolved.

It appears the database was calling MSCAL.OCX which is no longer installed with the current version of office.

If we copy it back to a PC that's not functioning properly and register it the database works fine....
