GRitchie Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Hello, We're having trouble with a number of staff laptops where they will move from one department to another (usually they'll close their laptops) and when they reopen it at the next place it won't pick up the wireless. This then requires the staff to troubleshoot the wifi. Sometimes they'll get the yellow exclamation mark where they have to disconnect and reconnect to the network others will just completely lose the network. I've also just had word that sometimes they'll just sit there and it'll drop out. The worrying thing is, we've just had a brand new managed wireless system put in and there are very few blank spots, if any!
GRitchie Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Wireless drivers? Nope, they've all got the official drivers etc.
GRitchie Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Are they up to date? They are - this is the first thing we checked, gave it back to them with any that needed updating and it would continue with the issue!
GRitchie Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 What wireless solution are you using? We're using Meru
Net-Ctrl Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 MERU sponsor the wireless forum on here, may be worth seeing if you can send them a PM. I'm not too sure who manages their account, but would be worth a shot. Alternatively, speak to your reseller and they should be able to point you in the right direction. I'm sorry i cant be of more help, if it was Ruckus, we could have given it a shot. I'll speak to one of the wireless engineers when he's in today and see if he has any suggestions, if so i'll send them over.
win Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Go into device manager and then the properties of the wireless adapter > power management Uncheck the box that says "allow computer to turn off to save power" 1
