Gatt Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 My suggestion is up: https://windows.uservoice.com/forums/265757-windows-feature-suggestions/suggestions/6586499-include-the-bginfo-utility 1
Gatt Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 How does it work - is it the number of votes = more chance of it being considered? (If so - Votes needed folks!!)
FN-GM Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I have voted that up as well. It will also make sure that BGinfo is properly supported for the OS. In the past there have been glitches with new versions of windows. There was also a suggestion to make Windows Update a one stop shop for drivers. I thought that was a good idea, but it isn't Windows 10 specific.
Arthur Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 is it the number of votes = more chance of it being considered? Possibly, although I reckon some suggestions have no chance. e.g. windows.uservoice.com/forums/265757-windows-feature-suggestions/suggestions/6573539-remove-the-long-standing-max-path-limitation
JRowley Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Possibly, although I reckon some suggestions have no chance. e.g. windows.uservoice.com/forums/265757-windows-feature-suggestions/suggestions/6573539-remove-the-long-standing-max-path-limitation From a developer point of view you can already get around this by using the '\\?\' prefix though, so not really sure what that guys point was. Can't see that changing in quite a while.
mikkydoos Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I'd like to see them remove the keylogger they've built into the preview !
zag Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Some good ideas there. I voted for: - Standard RAR support - File explorer Tabs - Improved notepad.exe - Windows update to be central location for all drivers
Arthur Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 I'd like to see them remove the keylogger they've built into the preview ! It hasn't got a keylogger though.
JRowley Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 It wouldn't surprise me, it's a technical preview they have legitimate uses for keystroke information at this stage.
Garacesh Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 +3 votes for BGInfo. Would be extremely useful. Windows Update does need some kind of 'driver store' though.. Every company worth their weight in fluidic excrement has ways to detect what hardware you have. Why can't MS have a way for them to submit that method to them so Windows itself can fully pick up your drivers and automatically get you the latest and keep on top of new releases? It sorta works in W7, they just need to really improve the functionality. I understand not all companies will want to do this, but the 'big players' certainly will.

Why is it I add drivers to my WDS install image and then they aren't installed with the OS install. Rubbish
