SIMS Surname search problem

I have not experience of SIMS what so ever so please do bare with me.

 

We have a problem with the feature that allows you to search for pupils. When you first open up SIMS it works fine without any problems but after a few minutes when you do a search on a valid Surname it doesn't return anything. When you search the pupils forename it does come up with the pupil showing there surname as well. After a while it also stops working for the forename. To fix it you have to close SIMS then reopen it.

 

Has anyone come across this problem before please, if so how did you fix it please?

I don't think there will be a fault here. Check that none of the other search critera have anything in them that makes it impossible to find.

We have the correct critera it works fine to begin with then it stops working without changing critera etc.
