superatticman Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Hi All We have a new member of the team who we want to grant access rights to install software manually on workstations. We do not want him to have full administrator rights or the ability to change anything in AD etc. Does anyone know what levels of access we need to give them? Regards Adam
jamesb Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) If it's just for software installation (i.e. not drivers) then you could use a GPO to add him to the local Power Users group. That should let him install software, but nothing at the system level and won't grant him any domain privileges. This does depend on your Windows version though (Power Users is deprecated in the last few versions). You could create a custom local group with the necessary rights through GPO, or simply grant him membership of the local admin group. Edited October 15, 2014 by jamesb
