Espresso shortcut with logon

We use espresso coding website during computing lessons. my manager created shortcut in Google chrome as we notice that IE didn't work properly with espresso website. Problem is every time user opens shortcut they needs to log in. After that we get error, we need to return to the login page, log in again and its working fine. It is time consuming and quite impossible to do for year 1 and 2. We end up going around and login everyone in.

 

My question is: How do I create shortcut that goes straight in without need of user to put in username and password?

 

I would appreciate any advise.

I don't think there is a way without saving the username and password in Chrome.

 

I was going to look into this today, so will give you a shout if I find anything!!

Great thank you. I am looking al over for it because its so frustrating. We had education city set up like that before all the changes but it was in IE.

Espresso have a shortcut creation tool for exactly this. After contacting them regarding a similar query, they sent me this:

Download the required tool, enter your credentials, and a shortcut will be created that will automatically log you in. We use this for the Coding module as this isn't available on our cache server.

I've noticed this shortcut is an exe that it creates... I'll test it with a student logon. It works great with me logged on though :-P

If I recall correctly, the utility creates an exe in the drive of your choice and creates a shortcut to this. In our case I saved it on our public drive (hidden from users) and the shortcut works fine for all users. It's also worth noting that the folder the exe is in and which the shortcut points to, is hidden.

I couldn't do that so I installed on each machine (didn't have enough patience to find out what I'm doing wrong). It is working as well when i log in as student. I need to now work out how to do it on the network as we have 2 computing suits.

this is where my problem arises... students cannot run exe files. Might have to change that!

@mgraves I've saved the shortcut onto a shared drive (in my case applications) then on the particular folder given students executable permissions so the exe file will run. In my environment the students have a redirected desktop, so I have copied the shortcut to the desktop destination. If you need any further guidance, feel free to give me a shout!

Dose it mean that student has to run installation? Sorry if it is silly question.

No, I just ran the installation once on my machine:

 

 

then in the destination, put the shared area path.

Has anybody managed to get the auto login to work using chrome. It seems to default to ie. have a machine set to use chrome as default browser and the .exe from the auto login tool still opens with internet explorer.
