Remote Apps using Microsoft Remote Desktop for iPad

Hi All,

 

We have set up a server running Remote Desktop Services, and we have set it up as a gateway for several 'RemoteApp Programs'. We have added the Office suite, and a number of other Apps.

 

It works great, and all the programs can be run from a browser, Windows, or iPads.

 

The annoying problem we have is that no matter what we try the iPads always defaults to US english (I have been focusing on Microsoft Word).

 

We have:

• Removed all languages except UK English from the server.
  
• Set the default Keyboard language in the registry / group policy.
  
• Installed the UK language pack and enabled it.
  
• Set UK as the language in every location we can find, including the option to 'Copy to New User Accounts'.
  
• Tried a registry key that is supposed to stop the server checking the remote client language - Didn't help!
  

 

Logging in to the remote app from a windows machine gives the correct UK language (and doesn't even present US as an option).

The iPads are all set to United Kingdom in their language settings.

 

I am baffled as to where it is getting US English from at all as it's not on the server.

 

Is this just a bug where the iPad tells the server to use US, or has anyone got UK langauge to work on an iPad in a remote app.

 

Yes, it is possible to change the language from the language bar thing, but I would rather not have to have this showing up at all.

Looks like I made mistake when I applied the reg entry to stop the server checking the client language:

 

This is what you need:

 

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

 

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]

"IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout"=dword:00000001

 

 

Seems a bit odd that the client language is read as US English when the client is running on an iPad set to UK Engish, but the above entry does the trick when applied to the app server.
