karldenton Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Hi all We have a nursery opening next week that is offsite. The machines come as Win 8 pro. If I add the school vpn, is there a way to make it connect before logon ? I ask this because some admin staff are going to be based out there and they won't have logged onto the machines before. I don't want it to say "no logon servers available" when they logon for first time. We have a copy of Win 8 enterprise so could pop that on and use direct access - does that connect before logon so they won't get the "no logon servers" issue? Thanks
Domino Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 You want to use the logon over vpn feature - in win8 you configure it as so: Windows 8 connect to VPN before logon | LAN-Tech Network Management That said, could you not put something in as an infrastructure vpn? the experience would likely be better for the users 1
MatthewL Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Get a router with VPN capability and create a hardware VPN and then it will be just like they are at the main site when logging in, keeps it as simple and requires less configuration.
