ozydave Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) I have had a look through edugeek but can find an answer. We have EES. We currently have a number of short term supply staff. In for a day or two then someone different. Are these staff covered by the EES? Edited October 4, 2014 by ozydave
Arthur Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 We currently have a number of short term supply staff. In for a day or two then someone different. Do your supply staff only work for a day or two per year, or do the same people come back and work additional days later in the year? Are these staff covered by the EES? If they are employed by the school for 200+ hours per year, you would have to include them. www.edugeek.net/forums/licensing-questions/133395-yet-another-ees-fte-question.html#post1142049 If they are employees and will use it for 200 hours or more a year, you count them. Less than 200 hours and you can forget about them.
ozydave Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 Thanks The supply staff are all agency staff, so they don't get paid directly by us. So we won't always get the same people.
elsiegee40 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 The only ones you have to watch out for are any that are likely to hit the 200 hour barrier, eg maternity cover. It's only 30 full working days for a teacher... I.e. 6 weeks. Supplies are contractors so they do apply when calculating EES 1
Quackers Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 If they are supply staff and not actually employees of the establishment then I'm guessing you just don't count them.
synaesthesia Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 We tend to keep a couple spare, and bearing in mind that if someone is supply, the person they're covering isn't there....
elsiegee40 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) If they are supply staff and not actually employees of the establishment then I'm guessing you just don't count them. Unfortunately, Microsoft won't think like that. Contractors are employees of the business, just paid differently. Supply teachers are contractors and the 200 hour rule will apply. My husband's current employer could halve its EES bill if it didn't have to count the contractors like him! Remember though that the head count on the renewal date is what counts unless you are forecasting a huge change in the next few months. Odd ones or twos will make no difference. Nobody will have it exactly right. Edited October 4, 2014 by elsiegee40 1
ozydave Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 Thanks folks So consultants and agency staff should be counted on the staff count if they do over 200 hours.
elsiegee40 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Absolutely. Contractors/supply are part of the workforce. What you can't do is guess to 100% accuracy the fluctuations in a 12 month period. And the bigger the employer, the smaller the chances of getting this right. Don't lose sleep over being wrong by 2 or 3 people. Just get it right on the day and add on a couple if you know it's on the low side. 1
hardtailstar Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 We counted all the supply as one person, they were all doing the same job in one class but had different lengths of contracts. We asked MS if that was ok and they said yeah, so if they are doing the same job then count them as one. but check hours etc first. 1
