[sims] Planned Hours Per Year for Census

Afternoon All,

 

I am starting to work on the census for next week, and am having issues with planned hours for courses. Are people calculating the planned hours as from 3rd September 2014 until 31st May 2015, (when students go on "Study Leave,") right at the start of the exam season? Or are they doing it for the whole academic year?

 

The only reason I ask is that it reduces the total number of hours that a student has planned, which reflects as to whether or not they are a full time student or not!

 

If anyone has any ideas on this could they please share?

According to my LA, you put down the planned hours at the start of the year and not how it eventually panned out (they described doing so as a mistake to be avoided). TBH I am going by what SIMS does in the new Course Manager, but even then we have two different start dates for 12/13 so I will have to keep a close eye on that...

I just did last year's yesterday with my head of sixth.

 

all the advice we had/read stated that the planned hours are for when they were timetabled (so up to Study Leave), as at the census date last year (I want to say it was 3/10).

 

So where a student was on 4 courses October 3rd, but later dropped one, you still count the 4th course, as you planned for them to do it.

 

Same thing with the non-qualified hours - so if you planned for a student to be in a tutor group for 30 minutes a day, but they never went, you still count it.
