Hi guys. Am new to this forum here. Sorry to start out with a question straight away. I did search the forum for previous discussions about this but couldn't find anything really helpful.

Ok, the skinny is that my Mac's performance sucks after installing OS X Mavericks. It is really, really slow. I came across this post - Mac slow after Mavericks - Fix it and it suggests a few different things. A lot of people have commented that the tips work but I was wondering if some OS X expert here could really give me the green signal to try them out.

The last thing I want is a corrupted Mac. I would rather deal with a slow one!

Did you do an in-place upgrade to Mavericks? I found that once I upgraded my iMac to Mavericks from Lion I had performance issues until I did a clean install from a flash drive. Might be worth considering.

You know what. I just restarted my Mac, went to recovery boot disc and then did a repair disk permissions on the partition that had OS X Mavericks installed. Restarted and all seems to be fantastic! Couldn't be happier. Hope it is a permanent fix!
