Hi folks - I'm having some specific problems and I wonder if anyone can help me?

The staff here are using macbooks (all on Mavericks OS), which are part of a windows AD domain (don't ask). They access a shared folder on the ancient, and soon-to-be-replaced 2003 server. They can browse the contents of the shared drive, and can open documents contained within it, but when they come to `save as', an browse to the shared folder - it shows as completely blank, and they can't save to it...

This problem seems to happen specifically with Office 2011 programs.

Is there anything I need to do to the shared folder on the Windows server?

Any advice would be useful, thanks!

thanks for that, some interesting stuff in the thread. My users can actually see the windows server in the sidebar already, but when they click on the `shared' folder it shows up as blank and won't let them save to it.

it's not a hidden share. I read somewhere about putting some kind of hidden folder on a windows server share, at the root, in order for mac users to be able to access it properly, but I'm damned if I can find that information again!

I am also wondering if I need to update Office 2011 on each macbook - there could be a fix for this.
