laserblazer Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Sorry if I'm boring you all with this but there is such a wide breadth of knowledge on this site and I would welcome some more advice. I currently have a Google website, which is ok and dead easy to keep updated. I also have my Facebook page which I called DroitwichVideoMemories but with hindsight I would have gone for SpaVideoMemories as it's not so geographic, whilst all the locals associate Spa with Droitwich. I don't think it's possible to change the Facebook page name. I guess I need to register a domain and SpaVideoMemories is available. Where would you recommend I go to get the domain? I'm assuming .co.uk would be best. Initially, I would simply map the domain to google site with a view to producing something more professional when time allows. Any advice and potential pitfalls would be appreciated.

laserblazer Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Just set up a uk2.net account and it won't let me forward emails to either my Gmail or Orange POP3 accounts.
visioN Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Go to mail.uk2.net and login. Go to Settings Go to Mail Forwarding Add gmail address BOOM!
laserblazer Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Go to mail.uk2.net and login. Go to Settings Go to Mail Forwarding Add gmail address BOOM! I tried that and it says it was successful but it doesn't seem to be forwarding. I can pick up the email in the uk2.net webmail but not the recipient accounts.
rich_tech Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 From the experience I have had with a family member (pita younger sister) decide on the name first not afterwards and be decisive ! I have one domain I registered which is decent for her, she has about 4/5 now that she's registered on a whim and semi-established before changing her mind with her therapy business, she's young though and won't listen to sense and knows it all, I can see from monitoring the one I registered gets a bit more traffic than her own domain names she registered (I registered the domain to the City in the locality, she's gone for something unrelated to the geography thinking she's created a "Brand"). Most hosts these days tend to chuck in the cPanel stuff which usually has a website builder as part of it, failing that it isn't horribly hard to get a Wordpress site up and running and altered to make it look more "Businesslike" if you don't have the ability or time to invest in a "Professional" production of a website
