kearton Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I've had a look around Advanced Learning's website(s) but can't find anything Can someone point me at a webpage or document which gives this information please? Thanks in advance
michael2k6 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Hello, If you go into our support site (assuming you're a user and have access) you can go to downloads, and find the full hardware specification for servers and clients. To answer your questions directly; Internet Explorer Versions 9, 10 and 11 Firefox Version 27 Cheers Mic Sanderson Customer Success Manager Advanced Learning 1
Marshall_IT Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Just as a slight aside we had issues doing roll call on iPads since iOS 5. Might not matter to you but was a huge factor for us. 1
kearton Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 That's the very reason I asked, @Marshall_IT... Users using iPads are having probs...
mrnoisy Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I asked the same question, here's what they said ePortal will work with iPads. However we have sometimes seen some issues when it comes to using Behaviour Management, so you might want to have a look at how it is and then make a judgement call based on the schools needs. Can iPads install other browsers such as Firefox, Chrome etc? We don't "technically" support Chrome, however, experience tells me that ePortal works with it pretty well.

michael2k6 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 As a complete aside, if you're using ipads as a business tool rather than apps and learning, consider the MS surface. I took a year away from Advanced and worked in a trust who began implementing them for SLT to start with and quickly decided to start rolling them out to some others. The pro's can be domained, they can be used with smartboards etc, they're MS so they will run everything, and if you're using 365 and one drive even better. The RT's will go some way towards that too but can't be domained so take a little more setting up but you can still map drives etc with the right server technology (think you have to have 2012 DC from memory). I'm not suggesting this as a solution to the problem posted in my capacity at Advanced, but just an observation from my time in a school. The ipads the users had were then repurposed into the classroom for apps such as translation tools for those new to English and VI or other SEN for those with specific needs. Mic
NotSoFast Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 As a further aside, Progresso *seems*to work well on Android. Don't know about iPad, or whether you are planning to move from Facility.
robjduk Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 lol, I know its a grass is greener situation but running a MIS through a browser rather than the backwards, 1990's way us Capita people have to use (yes we have SLG!)
SkywOrca Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Just a quick note to point out that there is an issue with using ePortal under IOS8 whereby the menu navigation bar isn't being displayed. Advanced are investigating the issue. https://s3.parature.com/link/portal/5527/5565/Article/5928/Menu-bar-does-not-show-for-iPads-running-IOS-8
Marshall_IT Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I'm currently using SLG as a 'SIMS Lite' for staff after migrating from facility / eportal and there are A LOT of things eportal does better. Like printing reports and class lists etc, well printing of any sort! Looking as a whole system and looking to move forward i think SIMS has a better prospect than facility.
