fiza Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) For those that use Google Apps for Education can you tell me if there is a way to get a list of users when sharing a document? If I create a document and then click share I get "Invite People". I want to be able to type the first few letters of the persons name and then get suggestions but at the moment I have to know and type in the persons email address. I have enabled contact sharing in the admin console. Edited September 17, 2014 by fiza
fiza Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 Ummmmmm? Sorry clicked submit before completing the post
IrritableTech Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 We do it exactly as you want. We start typing a name or email address and the options start to list below. Multiple entries must be separated with a comma. Changing contact sharing info can take up to 24 hours I believe, so if you've only just changed it that could be why. The account also has to be active - so if that user hasn't yet logged into and agreed to googles T&C's I don't think the account will show up. 1

Will try tomorrow.
fiza Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 @IrritableTech - Are you using Gmail aswell? If so how did you set up the email account for "office@". We need about 5 people to be able to access this mailbox to check for emails.
IrritableTech Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Our generic accounts tend to have a password shared by those that need access. Not the ideal solution, but it prevents multiple people answering one email if you have the account forward mail to numerous people. The other option is delegated access to the mailbox, but I haven't had time to play with this yet. Go into options, settings, accounts and grant access to your account. Let us know how well it works!
BKGarry Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Sorry to open up an old thread @fiza did you get the contacts showing at all?
fiza Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Sorry to open up an old thread @fiza did you get the contacts showing at all? Yes it just took a little while to show up. Now when we share a document we start to type the users name and it shows a list of matching names.
BKGarry Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Awesome, I just asked as I switched it on this morning due to the New Google classroom adding teacher feature needed it to list them in contacts and it wasn't opening any. I will let you know if mine works tomorrow

BKGarry Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Bingo, that made it work straight away. Still need to get all users from AD showing, but hopefully that will work tomorrow
howartp Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Has anyone else got the problem whereby adding a 'group' (synced from SIMS/etc) cannot be invited to a Class? It was a known bug back at release, but I just read an article that claims it was fixed at the same time the multiple-teachers feature came out. Peter
