Installing Ranger Portico

Hi All,

 

Has anyone got any experience of installing Ranger Portico?

 

We've been running Ranger Outpost for a few years but as that is out of support I have finally got around to looking at installing Portico as a replacement. I have read through the installation notes but I have hit a few problems that I'm struggling with.

 

First step was to create a new Server 2008 R2 VM (I had already tried installing Portico on Server 2012 but that was an unmitigated disaster so I'm back to 2008).

 

I have installed the IIS roles and features as per the instructions.

I have installed SQL Express 2008 R2 as per the instructions (the 32bit version as the Readme neglects to tell you that you must use 32bit SQL irrespective of the underlying OS).

 

When running the Portico MSI installer, I first get this error:-

 

 

If I click OK - the setup continues and provides the SQL Connection dialogue where I can select my nice new SQL instance. However, I then hit this error:-

 

 

Before I log a call with RM, just thought I would post this on Edugeek in case someone has seen this and knows what the fix is.

 

If not, I will take it up with RM and update the thread when I have a fix.
