Setting up VLAN for wireless guest access

Hello,

You will need to configure all of your switches with the other vlan as well.

Depending on how your wifi handles traffic you will need to trunk each ap or trunk the controller.

You will need to setup and ip helper address on each vlan pointing to you dhcp server.

You also need to give each vlan an IP and set the gateway for the vlan to that IP, then you need to route them all on your layer 3 switch to your TMG

Thanks for the replies, all our switches are unmanaged so I'm guessing this setup is out. I knew it seemed too simple

Without managed switches you will not be able to use vlans the only way really would be able to connect the wap's that are providing guest access to their own switch and then get that out via your gateway possibly a small managed switch even a web managed one although it depends on how many waps you want to provide guest access you may have to limit it to certain areas i.e reception.

Something I can look to slowly replace. I'd like to keep it simple and have one SSID for guests (or people who just want to connect their device to the internet) and one for local users

 

You've given me an idea though, I checked the spare (trial) Meraki AP I have here and it does exactly what I want, built into the Access Point. Shame I don't have more
