MattDLEA Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 This isnt school related but for a friend, They have a small office with 3 computers in and currently use a External HDD for important files and for transporting work to do from home. They have asked me for some advice about creating a shared area. First I suggested google drive / dropbox but they are not keen (upload speeds). I then suggested a server I know this is expense but I think this would be the best way and then network the computers in the office. ( There response to that was if there was a powercut or it crashed they woundnt want to be getting it back up all the time) Am I right in thinking that you can set it to start the services on restart? So worst case scenario just restart? If its just a file server does it have to have AD DNS etc? Also how would that affect access from home? Or would something like a NAS box cloud station work?
glennda Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I would suggest a cloud based NAS drive - Some of them have built in modules to back themselves up to Mozy Pro or similar. Then get it set to email them once backups are done and they are safe in the knowledge there data is safe.
