ajsonnick Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I need help ASAP please please please... I just deployed a huge computer lab at a school, windows 7, onto a server 2012 std domain server. I've set each computer's DNS settings to be the IP of the server, as I do in all my schools - I matched the settings from the WIN XP clients, left DHCP on. I have 4 GPOs: 1) IE homepage to school website 2) Desktop & My documents redirect 3) User Background & locked settings (changing bg, etc). 4) login script to add the "shared" drive and map to the S drive. For whatever reason on these new machines, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it'll give me a black desktop screen, say temp profile, but the my documents and desktops are redirected and the homepage on IE doesn't load on the first go-around... if I hit HOME again it'll load the school website. The logon script always loads though. Sometimes it'll show me the correct background, and say temp profile, but the my documents & desktop won't be redirected properly. It works on all the other XP & 7 machines in the building. School starts tomorrow, and I really need to get this working ASAP.. What am I doing wrong? I've tried everything I could think of - I've been doing IT for several years. HELP PLEASE! Any help would be greatly appreciated please and thanl you SO MUCH! Thank you!
MordyT Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 DHCP should be handing out your DNS settings. Temp profiles are usually when it can't create a local profile. GPO issues should be troubleshoot with gpresult.
ajsonnick Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 Now I can't even connect them to the Domain controller... All my XP machines can connect. AH! - - - Updated - - - I am desperate lol.
