localzuk Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 We have hit a snag with our Flash 14.0.0.176 deployment - videos in Youtube won't play. We just get the "An error occurred, please try again later." error on every video. Our setup is as follows: IE 11 Windows 7 SP1 64bit - with all security and critical updates installed. Adobe Flash 14.0.0.176 installed via MSI. Flash works on other sites (tested with some cool math 4 kids games), and whatever version is built into Chrome is working fine too. Tried clearing cookies/cache etc... Tried reinstalling Flash. Tried compatibility mode. Anyone else seeing this? Or fixed it somehow?

localzuk Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 It isn't that issue, sadly. I've got headphones on my PC. The other PCs are laptops and they all exhibit the same problem.

Have you tried installing the flash manually to one workstation and testing from there?

We deploy it afresh for every version, using the MSI version, via SCCM. When I play a YouTube video in IE11 on Windows 7 or 8.1 it uses the HTML5 player, so surely it's not a Flash Player issue? Don't see how. Youtube defaults to Flash for IE11 still. To get the HTML5 version, you have to choose it in your account preferences. Its definitely a Flash issue.

Controlling ActiveX in Internet Explorer - IEInternals - Site Home - MSDN Blogs That creates a white list, not a blacklist. So, I'd have to list all the sites that can use it rather than those which can't. Not really at all suitable!

SYNACK Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Could you put it in a restricted security zone in IE that did not allow ActiveX plugins, this may force a fallback to html5 and be deployable in GPO.
localzuk Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 I'm not keen on doing that, as its more of a temporary workaround, which we already have in the form of telling everyone to use Chrome. It might be just this version of Flash mixed with the specific version of IE or something. I'll live with it until the next release of Flash.

Strange that flash content will play through IE11 but not through the flash player although right clicking on the CD video actually gives the normal flash details! Very strange indeed will have to investigate further
