Ict policies

Just a quick one. Sorry if this has been covered already.

 

Do any schools still give out policies to staff for things like email and internet and ask for it signed and returned.

 

In a digital age of automation and trying to promote a greener approach to working it's a little silly to still do this.

 

How do you do it.

 

I'm Thinking I could use impero, then staff can electronically sign the aup, or I bet share point or something can do this

 

It's just something I adopted from a precious NM and never really give it much thought until now.

We do have a policy that staff sign, it contains the expectations of duty of care and normal conditions of use, as well as the make/model and serial number of the device in question. At the moment its only used for iPads and Galaxy Tabs, but we will be rolling it out to all staff laptops when they are next in for their refresh (wipe/re-install/encrypt). It will be common practice to sign the policy for any device that they use on a regular basis except their desktop PC, as this is covered in another document and the splash screen.

Yes we issue th em for ipads. For normal day to day usage though are we on to just send them the policies for them to read or make them available somewhere for all to see. What I'm saying is, is there a requirement to have staff to sign policies

We have policies on our staff intranet / handbook as well as paper copies in the staff room. We do get staff to sign receipt of a paper copy though. I guess if it's a policy, getting them to sign it covers the school in case of an incident. So I'd say yes.

Paper copy to be signed goes out each September.

 

I have a pre login message that appears after Ctrl+Alt+Del but before each login stating that if staff click OK and login then they agree with the terms of the AUP

We have the general AUP which ive just dished out to all staff users that use a device for accessing the network.

 

I also give out a student AUP to all sixth form students so they understand (thats if they read it) what they are agreeing to. At the same time, they sign a wireless policy again grants them access to the wifi.

Yup. We have our AUP which staff sign at induction. We also have a second sheet which lists the responsibilities and requirements of staff if they have one of our laptops or ipads - they sign this also, and the security ID of the device is recorded.

 

It provides evidence that everyone knows what they should and shouldn't be doing on the school IT gear from day 1 of employment.

Our system gets staff to accept the AUP every 30 days or when we make changes to the policy. We have hardware agreements staff have to sign aswell.
