o2 Tu Go App - Is it as good as it seems?

Hi All,

 

Pretty fed up with EE's signal at home, so thinking of switching back to o2... I know their signal's pretty dire at home too, but curious about the Tu Go app...

 

Does anyone here use it? (ideally with an Android phone)

 

I'd love to get some general feedback about it, and maybe ask a couple of questions if anyone is using it on Android)

I use the Tu Go app myself, its fantastic. Certainly makes life easier. Got no signal but have wifi? Enjoy still using your phone. At my work there are blackspots which the wifi kicks in and I can still use my service (the blackspots hit every network, its like the room is a faraday cage almost).

A little of topic but I use Three InTouch App works perfectly. Get zero signal at home if you didnt want to go for O2.

Its good! I love using it I can actually receive calls!

Have you seen this? It will be better because you won't need an app (at least with EE).

 

EE and Three will soon change the way you make calls and send texts < Engadget

 

Earlier today, the two operators confirmed they're going to let customers make high-quality calls and send text messages, even when there's only a WiFi connection available. The good news is that if you're an EE customer, you won't notice a thing, even though the company is exercising its technological prowess silently in the background.

@nephilim that lad seems to have a problem with most things ( @abillybobs' ) . My whole street is a black spot on all the networks 50Ft oak trees dont help!

Not sure if its still an issue. When I had the app, a text would come through on both the mobile signal and TuGo. So double alert every time I get a text. Apart from that, it was very good.

It still happens, but you can turn the alerts off on the app.

The Three inTouch app would have solved things for me although I use my phone for 3G and always have at home, it was hooked up to my Asus router and ta-da pretty much cost free internet for everyone.... maybe that's why they messed up my phone because their "unlimited" deal isn't true, I have a home server that downloads Gigs of data at night, well they did say unlimited It wasn't just that though it was the service I received, they where so rude I was stunned and now because I've left none of them care about unlocking my phone (or so it would seem).

 

Things are all run swimmingly when everything is ok with your phone but try calling them up about something that is going wrong, I'd of had a better response from a duck then waste hours trying to sort out their problem that they caused!

 

Won't ever go back to them again, getting 3G signal at £12 a month with a giffgaff sim at the moment and so far it's doing very well and at £28 cheaper each month I'm not complaining. Plus it seems that o2's Tu Go works with GiffGaff also so that's just a plus for anyone who is interested!!!

+1 for Three bring awful! And they're meant to be an "up and coming" network.

The Signal Boost app is completely useless since it's only available on a small number of Orange branded phones. None of which they sell any more.

 

I think the last phone that included the app was the Samsung Galaxy S2 which was released over 3 years ago! None of the subsequent models included it (the S3, S4, S5).

 

If you get a poor signal with EE, your only options now are the Signal Box (a 3G femtocell) or wait until the autumn when EE roll out their new Wi-Fi calling service.

In my area the o2 network is still broken, or at least some calls to not get connected. Every since the network issues a few years ago, but never used this app.
