Chromebooks vs Tablets - the big question

So our governing body has hit on the idea of tablets - which is great and all but at the moment they're just thinking in terms of removing textbooks. We have a brand new curriculum here in South Africa (yay ) so textbooks are a thing again. If we do the electronic version, we save upwards of 50% on the price and when you figure that out with 600+ students, it adds up pretty well.

 

So my question is - Chromebooks or Tablets? They're both being punted pretty solidly and obviously they both have their issues and benefits.

 

I think our infrastructure will be suitable for either of them really - we're going to be rolling out proper enterprise grade wireless as soon as I get the quotes back (Meru or Cisco) and we have 4x4mb uncapped, unshaped ADSL lines to play with.

I would not use Cisco wireless it a pain to setup and not very good compared to Ruchus and unfi.

Maybe tablets would be ok just for consuming electronic textbooks, but Chromebooks are so much more useful for producing stuff. Depends on the requirements I guess.

We dumped Cisco WIFI for Ruckus. Its a million times better and cheaper!

 

Cisco make brill network equipment. Apart from Wireless!!
