Cleaned my desk, it was full of treasures!

I've finally got a free hour (yes they do exist) and had cleaned out my desk and good lord the treasures are bountyful!

 

I have in my possession

• A box of 2000 staples
  
• 4 staple removers
  
• 9 hold punches
  
• 3 filing cabinet files (empty)
  
• 6 old newspapers
  
• a jar of mayonnaise (it has been opened) with a use by date of 2009.
  
• 6 mugs (2 of which had life growing)
  
• A box full of kettle leads and other assorted wiring
  
• and 3 dictation machines.
  

 

Quite glad I did it, it was a good clear out!

I cleaned my desk once. I found out it was made of this strange wooden material rather than the layers of crap that's usually on it

 

Oh and

Eww! As bad as my desk is and has been, I've never done that before!

I never got the chance to clean it from when the previous incumbent had been sitting here. I've given the whole desk a thorough wipe down with antibacterial wipes and will be replacing the keyboard as well today.

Worst I ever did was clear a classroom out which was to become an IT room...never again...ever...I found a dead mouse, coffee mugs from the previous teacher who left 5 years before I got there, and yoghurt which was literally alive

I wouldn't worry about that. It's not an issue unless it's developed language skills, then perhaps you have a moral dilemma - disinfectant or peace treaty?

I emptied the staff room fridges in week 2 of the holidays... (may of been Fri of week 1) and there was stuff with full on mould, out of date from april, may and june. it was disgusting. I am never putting anything in there.... ever.

I did our staff room fridge at the start of the holiday. There was some cottage cheese with a use by date of April... at least the tub said the contents were cottage cheese. I didn't dare check. Edited August 1, 2014 by elsiegee40

I would have normally as well however I wasn't given a permanent station until 2 months in and every day is mayhem. I managed to book myself an hour free to do this...was glad I did.

 

There's so much space for activities.
