Our Client is a school based in South Gloucestershire and they are looking for an IT Technician/Manager to support its future IT developments. Improved compatible infrastructure, hard and software capability, training, and technical support/back up, are all part of the strategic plan to meet teaching, administration and bursary objectives.

The chosen candidate will have formal qualifications in an IT related discipline and be able to demonstrate not only understanding of relevant up to date/available technology, but also above average people skills. Previous “hands on” experience will be an advantage either from a commercial or educational background.

The chosen candidate will need to possess a full understanding of Microsoft server installation and administration tasks along with some SQL management skills. You will need to understand the integration of systems based on Apple OSX into the Microsoft network including user authentication, file sharing and email based on Microsoft Exchange, configuration and installation of both Apple PC’s and Windows PC’s dependant of the department requirements. You will also need experience of maintaining and configuring database systems, preferably FileMaker Pro.

You will need to be able to deal with members of both administrative and teaching staff to offer training and technical support to those groups. The successful candidate will have an excellent technical ability as well as a strong customer service ethic to allow them to deal effectively with staff, students and third parties alike. Experience of managing budgets and ensuring that ‘value for money’ is maintained would also be advantageous.

There will be a requirement to offer 1) out of school hour’s support on a rota basis with other IT personnel, essential to administration staff who often work different hours to main school; 2) work during school holidays to facilitate upgrades and installations with the minimum disruption to the normal school terms.

Remuneration will be commensurate with capability, skills and experience, however we will favour a confident person who has the appetite for more responsibility and is able to take a future leading role in the department. This is a full time permanent position
