mtillbrook Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Hi Guys I have been asked by one of my customers if it would be possible to install the full version of Windows 8 Pro on a Surface bought with Windows 8 RT installed on it!? Has anyone had a go at this????? I would be interested in hearing from anyone to see if its been done before i try it!! Cheers
sted Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 you cant install x86/x64 on an rt they are arm devices they cant understand the code it would be like trying to install windows 8 on an iphone 1
jamesreedersmith Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 No because the RT version will have an ARM processor and full windows wont run on that.
abillybob Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Exactly the above ^ The architecture is completely different so therefore it won't work, Full Windows requires a x86 or x64 Processor the Windows RT tablets comes with an ARM processor. You maybe able to get certain Linux Distro's to work on it including Android but thats about all.
