Gaz Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 OK So I'm trying to create some VLANs to put the wireless clients on another IP range. Basically wired connections on 192.168.10.0/24 and wireless on 192.168.20.0/24 Server IP:192.168.10.1 GW: 192.168.10.3 Router IP: 192.168.10.3 Switch - Cisco SG300 Layer 3 mode VLAN 10 192.168.10.254 VLAN 20 192.168.20.254 Smoothwall IP:192.168.10.7 GW: 192.168.10.3 I've got two PC's setup on VLAN 20 for testing and they can only get an IP address via DHCP when the server has its default gateway set to 192.168.10.254 The problem with that is the server and VLAN 10 then lose internet connectivity, but VLAN 20 will have internet connectivity. I think I've got the static routes setup correctly on the switch (Cisco SG300 Layer 3 mode) [ATTACH=CONFIG]25829[/ATTACH] Smoothwall route [ATTACH=CONFIG]25830[/ATTACH] On the DHCP server (192.168.10.1) There are the following scopes Workstations 192.168.10.0 - Router option is 192.168.10.7 (Smoothwall) vlan 20 192.168.20.0 - Router option is 192.168.10.254 (vlan 20) So how do I get internet and DHCP working on both ranges? Sorry that its probably not explained very well but If I can elaborate anywhere just ask. Thanks.
Davit2005 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 If you get your Cisco switch to do the routing for all vLANS and then set a default route from the switch to your ISP router (0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 [router ip] ) Update the DHCP options for the clients to go through the switch as the default gateway for the specific vlan. I.E on the switch vlAN 30 ip address 10.0.30.1 255.255.255.0 ip helper-address (to your DHCP server on each vlan) The DHCP scope for the 10.0.30.0/24 range would have the gateway set to the IP address (10.0.30.1) of the vLAN on the switch. 1
Gaz Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 OK so it looks like it was the static route entry that was at fault, I thought it needed to go to the server but upon initial inspection it appears to be working.
