Over the past week or so the SIMS CommandReporter.exe feature has really come into its own for us, through some custom reports and various SSIS packages it is driving things like our Moodle class enrolments, our in house designed trip management system and over the summer we will be mashing it into to PowerShell and Active Directory to do some really cool things.

So...the question is (just out of personal interest more than anything else) is do the 'cloud' based MIS provider have anything which matches this feature? (aka the ability to programmatically run automated reports exporting as CSV or even raw access to the SQL data through a VPN/whatnot).

Most I know about have a web api - you can just plug straight into SSIS. The web component in SSIS is pretty cruddy, so you'll be better off with the scripting component. Its far superior to the SIMS reporting engine \ CommandReport.exe

Progresso allows for subscription reports ussing SSRS so once you have a report built you can schedule it to go by email in various different formats to whoever you like at specified times and include relative (such as date) or fixed parameter.

Ahh now the only problem there is I wouldn't want a human to be involved in the process at all (from what I understand you have written a human would need to take the attachment out of the email and feed it into a path.

For a match in the criteria in the OP it would need to be csv export to a path or direct SQL to SQL.
