Dos_Box Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 My daughters brithday is comign up and she want's her 'own' laptop. Seeing as she'll be 10 and won't exactly be hammering it I've found the AsusX102BA which for around £250 has a stonking spec including a 10" touch screen, 4GB DDR3 and a 500GB HD (although I'll proably swap that out for an SSD): Notebooks & Ultrabooks - X102BA - ASUS Anyhow, my qeustion is this, has anyone had experiance with the combined CPU\GPU, the AMD A4-1200 and Radeon HD 8180? My daughter only plays Minecraft so it obvously does not eed to be of a blinding spec, but any advice would be greatly received.
HTCPCP Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 They are never going to break any records, or achieve much at all really. I picked up a netbook running the E-450 to test some stuff on it, and it was a nightmare. HP 250 G2 Laptop - Laptops | Ebuyer.com has a more powerful processor, and the Intel integrated graphics that look slightly better than the AMD one. Having never played minecraft, don't have a clue regarding what it needs to run, but I can't imagine it being too Graphics heavy... I would probably have a word with ICT Direct though to see what they have that would fit the bill first... 1
3s-gtech Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 That is a very low end Temash part based on the Jaguar architecture. It's okay for basic office stuff, but I think even Minecraft may be pushing it games wise. Might be worth looking at HP Pavilion 11-H003SA Intel Pentium Quad Core N3510 2.00GHz / 11.6 / 4GB / 64GB SSD / Bluetooth / Windows 8 Home / 1 Year Warranty / Refurb 2 in 1 Laptop & Tablet (11-H003SA) - www.misco.co.uk which is my current bargain favourite - the Silvermont Pentium in there should show the AMD part up, but you also get a natty tablet with keyboard. Again, not a gaming powerhouse, but should still be quicker than the ASUS (benchmarks would suggest so). 1
