Jheeeese that was low. Mind you, sitting at the end of an active runway you have to expect these things.

EDIT: Imagine the media uproar if it had hit them though...

Sensationalist Headlines from the Mirror again.

But seconds from touchdown the Russian pilot was forced to pull up his landing gear as a he making a final approach to land as an Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus A340 taxied across his path.

The Russian Boeing screamed back into the air, barely missing the taxing plane, as it was forced back into the air to cricle the airport before landing safely on the second attempt.

Not quite as dramatic as this when you watch the video. Also:

But the Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (AENA), claimed there was never any danger of a collision as there was sufficient space to carry out a landing meaning the second plane on the landing would have been gone before the time UTair pilot had touched down at Barcelona's El Prat Airport, in eastern Spain.

A pilot will perform the manoeuvre like this when they do not have a clear view of the landing, whether that is because of weather or any other reason that leads them to doubt that it might be safe to go ahead.

The incoming pilot wasn't to know the other one wasn't going to suddenly stop for some reason. I'm with him for aborting.

I agree with you, the last line of the quote reads that pilots will do this if they have no clear view of the landing. I think that a plane across the runway constitutes no clear view

I thought the Turks threw you in jail for photographing military airfields.

Or have they softened their attitude of late?

And of the Spanish "near miss". That was shot with a long telephoto, dramatically telescoping the perspective. The pilot was quite sensible to go around, ground control ought to be hung out to dry, or the driver (I hesitate to call him a pilot) of the Airbus, if he ignored instruction.
