glennda Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Dear the Edugeek faithfull, After have a few issues with the Vision HDMI splitter (this) and an issue they don't seem to be able to resolve with the HDMI splitter not outputting from laptops correctly (infact at all). Does anybody use and recommend an HDMI splitter which works with Laptops and other audio visual equipment? Thanks Toby
Michael Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I presume you've updated to the latest graphics driver?
glennda Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 I presume you've updated to the latest graphics driver? Yes - 3 different models of laptops and multiple cables. Vision have confirmed it is an issue with the splitter but only with laptops. They have Lifesize Video Conference equipment which works fine. This is what is outputted on both TV's from the laptop. It is being investigated by there R & D team in Australia now.
Michael Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 To be honest I've used HDMI splitters with TVs, not notebooks. I suppose a quick fix (as an alternative) is to use a VGA splitter. It'll do 1366 x 768 (HD resolution) without any issues. You shouldn't be able to see any difference, unless you're eagle eyed!

They have a cheap one at the moment which works but we need to use HDMI as it is built into the building at the moment.
Michael Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I think HDMI to VGA adapters do exist if you're stuck. I can appreciate the issue if the cables are in the walls!
sonofsanta Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 We've used a couple of these recently, albeit with desktops (can't see how it makes a difference though, not sure how Vision have engineered that): http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005FQMUE8/ Not been in long but had no reason to complain. 4 and 8 port versions are also available.
