I have been asked repeatedly to allow access to Facebook for a member of staff so we can have an official presence on there, I do not have a problem with this.

My issue is that because we are still on a BGFL connection its all or nothing; if I have it unfiltered, everyone will have access. It simply will not happen there is no way we are going to allow access to Facebook en masse (plus it directly contradicts our esafety policy). I have made several suggestions including the member of staff updating from their phone or at home (not ideal). How have any of you got around this or have any of you bit the bullet and allowed access? In the long term it appears we will move away but as always people want it and they want it now!

Any ideas?

My last school (2 1/2 years ago) had a BGFL connection, and they allowed us to access FB from two specific i/ps on our network. One was in the IT office and the other the person who handled child protection issues. We told them we wanted this and it was made so.

Sound like a possible way forward, I would just need to take that machine off DHCP.
