Registering a .sch.uk domain

Hi, Im trying to get a new sch.uk address to replace our old one. Nominet have asked me for the following bit of information which confuses me slightly.

 

* The school registration number - Is this our DFE number our URN or what ?

 

Who is the best registrar to host this with in your experience because I have to choose and give their IPS tag. It will be linked to office365

 

Any advice is appreciated

They're asking for your DFE number.

To my knowledge, sch.uk names are dealt with by the LEA, since they're usually of the form schoolname.authorityname.sch.uk and the LEA are responsible for any subdomains of the authorityname.sch.uk domain.

That is not correct Nominet deal with them. The domain belongs to the school and has nothing to do with the LEA, unless they have taken over things!

As for the ID I imagine they are referring to DfE number.

When I mean taken over things I mean took control of a schools domain and manage for them etc.

Registrar, I know Heart allow them to be managed on their systems as I look after a couple, but whether you need an actual account with them or not to make them see it worth their while or not I don't know (I have a reseller with them so it was fairly painless). I know certainly Namecheap don't allow it as I checked in with them first because most domains I get through them with it being less expensive.
