Broadband speed - stuttering YouTube replay

We are in the South West grid area and signed up to the SWGfL Fiber to The Cabinet broadband. All seems to go well and the network runs smoothly until occasionally teachers have stuttering replays of YouTube videos. Happened yesterday when a teacher was trying to run a YouTube for schools video from her iPad via Air Server. Thing was there was very little other network traffic at the time so it should have run smooth as silk.

 

Moving forward what are our options to ensure we don't suffer this ituation in the future?

Did you run any sort of speed test at the time to quantify bandwidth available?

Youtube usually adjusts to your broadband speed to stream in the best quality it can dependent on your bandwidth. Have you checked to see if you have any packet loss? Do a ping to google to see how successful they are.

Yes I've run speedtests and all looks to be about right for a FTTC connection. We went on this about a year ago now and it's been an ongoing problem since - I think it probably was with our previous connection as well!

 

The network seems to run fine otherwise it's just when the teachers try to run YouTube direct that the stuttering happens.

 

Showing my numptiness now no doubt but is there any way of caching the YouTube footage so that when they want it it's sitting there waiting for them rather than needing to be live streamed?
