tannajay Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 We have just migrated our SIMS data to SQL 2005 Express. I am now trying to configure Veritas Backup Exec 10 to pick up Microsoft SQL Server SIMS 2005 folder, but when I try to select this folder it brings up an error which says "An error was encountered while attempting to browse the content of MIS-001\SIMS2005. A network connection to the server could not be established" and it doesn't let me select this folder. Please see the attached screen shot for the problem. Does any one know how to correct this and backup this folder. Appreciate any help! Many Thanks Jay Tanna
Oops_my_bad Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Apparently BU 10 can't backup sql 2005 databases, you may need to upgrade - see the post below... http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=12454
tannajay Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 Problem sorted by applying hotfix 10.1.5629 obtainable from Symantec website. URL is http://support.veritas.com/docs/280204
boomam Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 The v9/v10 to 10.1/10d upgrade is free, and painless to do. I'd recommend doing it myself. I had the same problem a week or so back with SQL2005.
AdrianSpencer Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Whilst I do backup our databases using BE, I also use sql maintaince plans to create SQL backups (.bak and .trn) to file. These are then backed up by BE as a simple file backup. Just seems safest. "One hundred idiots make idiotic plans and carry them out. All but one justly fail.
