user profile service failed the logon

Having real trouble with the family pc.

 

On my mums account is says user profile service failed the logon. User profile could not be loaded. Problem with this is that my mum is the only administrator account on the computer.

 

I used one of the other accounts on there to make sure that could log in. After it logged in i did a quick virus check and everything came back clean.

 

I booted up in safe mode and was able to log in fine to my mums account but any changes which required administrator privileges wouldn't open just froze so restarted the computer but when i tried to log in i still got the same error message.

 

I then tried altering the profile list in the registry which was causing the problem but when i tried to rename the .dat it came up with an error message saying it could not rename it (possibly as i was not the administrator)

 

I then tried to activate the local administrator account through command prompt but didn't have sufficient privileges to activate. I tried right clicking and running as administrator but after entering my mums password it said cmd.exe is unavailable file path could not be found.

Try running sfc /scannow from a Command Prompt in safe mode. If this finds any corrupt system files, it should replace them.

 

It might also be worth doing a virus scan outside of Windows using a bootable anti-virus disc.

You could also use utilman.exe to create a new Administrator account if you have a Windows 7 disc handy.

Tried using that yesterday to reset her password but its just stuck on the kernal and won't budge
