The building is designed to be stuck with conductors down the outside to pull the energy away from other, populated areas. All tall buildings have this. Bloody physics 101! It's like saying 'Speeding car stopped (by braking)'... Evidently a slow day in the news

Lightning can look amazing in photos and that shot of it hitting the Shard is a classic that phtographers have probably been waiting an age to get. It made me think of Ghostbusters for some reason. * wanders off humming *
