I have been working on this problem for a couple of days now. I am trying to deploy SolidWorks as an available package via SCCM (only in a test environment at the moment). It comes up with the above error message (it doesn't have an error code at the end of it, it just says "investigate the installation failure reasons and then try to reinstall" - not very helpful at all) almost as soon as I hit install , I have successfully deployed many programs to this PC using the same method but this program won't do anything. I have installed on another machine from a command prompt using the same switches as I have in the package and it works correctly. The first time I ran it though it said the program was too big for the cache so I tried changing the cachesize (though I'm not entirely sure if that was successful) but now I just get the above message.

I have looked through various client logs but not sure what I should be looking for and in which one.

Can anyone shed any light on this as I have been searching around for ages now.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Lot's of views but no response. Am I missing something in the information I'm supplying so that people can't understand my problem.

Packages are being deprecated, you may be better trying it as an application instead. Especially for something the size of SolidWorks.

Anyway, I think the log file that you need to monitor packages with is execmgr.log stored in c:\windows\ccm\logs on the client. You also may be able see more details in the Monitoring workspace in your console. Look in Deployments, search for SolidWorks. Click on View Status under the Completion Statistics pie chart and find your machine, you may find more details as to why it's failing there.
