Emm Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Hi. I am relatively new to the role of Data Manager and use SIMS and SISRA. Are there any sites anyone can recommend - I already use DataEducator and David Potts - to help me with my role? I would like to try to get local DMs together but am a bit geographically challenged being in South Lincolnshire - if there is anyone relatively local on here who would like to meet say once a term for idea sharing etc please pm me.
pcstru Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 There is a mailing list which may be helpful : [email protected] 1
ICTLady Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Hi Emm There is a DM group here on Edugeek: Data Managers - EduGeek.net I use Twitter and follow a lot of other DMs on there as well as DfE, Capita people etc. It has definitely helped me to keep abreast of what is changing in the world of data. How are you finding it? Are you enjoying your new role? 1
Linfit Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 If you have not already done so get yourself a Capita Supportnet login - sometimes the forums on there for AM can have useful ideas in them and there is also a filesharing area for reports, templates etc that can be useful.
Emm Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Hi I have just joined that group. Needed to make a general post first to be able to do so, hence my message on here this morning :-) I already receive SSAT DM emails and signed up to Twitter this morning. I am really enjoying the job but am worrying about what's ahead and where to start. Spent the last year feeling like I'm getting by by the skin of my teeth and feel like that won't change much for the next couple of years. It's quite a lonely job as there's no one here I can ask for help and advice so thank goodness for Edugeek and SSAT etc.
AliWoodley Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Hi Emm I am a member of the Lincs Data Managers Forum ([email protected]) - It was set up by Ian Widdows, who is the administrator. Drop that link and email and get yourself on the list, all posts go out by email, and it is very useful. This group is starting to talk about setting up networking meetings etc. I am in Lincolnshire, and would definitely be interesting in a network group with meetings and I know a couple of other people that would be interested too. Send me an email Ali 1
Emm Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Thanks Ali - have PM'd you :-) I cannot join the group via that link (I don't have permission to send to that list as I'm not a member). Is anyone able to let me know how I might be able to join please? Thanks, Emma
AliWoodley Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I will email you a link, once Ian has authorised it, you will get added to the list. Send me an email (I have given it in a PM) and I will forward you the link 1
Mirmo Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 DM in Grimsby here. Pop to Skegness every now and then too.
