Hello There,

We currently have a DNS related problem. We have two domains, an ADMIN and a CURRICULUM one the curriculum is a subdomain of the admin IE curriculum.admin.school.com

Currently we can only use FQDN's to access anything on the curriculum, if i try to nslookup anything on the curriculum domain controller i get the error "Non-existent domain" I can get it to work if i append the DNS suffix for both the admin and curriculum in the advanced adapter settings but we never used to have to do that.

Also, we seem to have lost our ability to add computers to the domain using their short netbios names, we have to specify their FQDN. Is this related?

I was told initially this could be to do with reverse lookup zones but they're all configured and working correctly (pointer records created fine etc..)

Could anyone shed some light? if you need more information please ask

Cheers,

Viktor.

PS. It also resolves names if i create an alias (CNAME) from the curriculum DC but this still does not seem right and it means nothing without an alias on the curriculum is resolved.
