Wine on Mac for encrypted USBs.

We've got encrypted USBs for all staff, but one teacher has now said they only have a mac so the software won't run.

 

I suggested looking at Wine [he thought I was joking until I explained it] which may let it run.

 

 

Is my thinking right on this?

 

The usb appears as a removable drive, but all that's there is user guide and the software.

 

Once unencrypted, another drive pops up and allows work to be saved.

 

Wine should let the software run and the USB should be useable.

They're integral encrypted USBs.

 

Encryption via software on the device itself.

It may work but I wouldn't count on it. I would have thought that the encryption would be more low level than Wine will allow.

IIRC it's hardware encryption.

 

I think the software just tells it to encrypt/decrypt.

 

If the power cuts out to the USB it auto-encrypts.

what about a virtual machine ie parallels or vmware fusion / virtual box with windows 7 installed ?

Not a school machine, not a technical member of staff.

 

I did mention bootcamp, but I think the concept of it went right over their head.

They can't access the drive without running the software first to unlock it.

decrypt it and use something like true crypt for them to use on both windows and OS X or maybe get them to get a memory stick from the same company that will work with both OSes ?
