PipEdg Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 We are a small Special School with students ranging from 3 years to 19 years. We are having to move from E1 and have just been told that we cannot go down the SIMs route (don't ask me why!!) even though we were just about to sign on the dotted line. This has obviously put us in a very difficult position as we desperately need a replacement but don't have the time or expertise to fully investigate an alternative. I have had a look at what the other Special Schools are using in the MIS Survey. But just wondered if there is anyone out there who can recommend a suitable system that is relatively straight forward to use. I could really do with the next phase of the MIS Challenge being published. Any chance you can do it by tomorrow?
Cablers_JonPaul Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Most of the schools we work with use SIMs but a few have moved to RM Integris. Its cloud based and suits their needs. I personally have not seen it in action but this link is a start if your looking around. RM Education - What we do: RM Integris
Dkeen94 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Have you tried Databridge MIS? We are a non maintained special school and we are moving away from SIMS and going fully integrated into Databridge
elsiegee40 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Who said you couldn't buy SIMS? Probably the business manager if they are a small school. It can work out pretty expensive
PipEdg Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Thanks for the advice. RM are encouraging current E1 schools to migrate to them so I will have a look at them and also at Databridge. 1

GREED Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I would love to publish the MIS Challenge however I have not had all the results in yet. I am waiting on 2 coming within days and then will have enough to make it worth while. Until then happy to offer advice on where to go next. I have personally found that no one specifically caters for special schools and their very specific and individual needs. Perhaps you could let us know what aspects of E1 are currently most important to you and based on that give some advice about what systems do that part well... not just from me but the community? I'd be interested to know why Sims was rejected out of hand too. If you are an all through school that would put a couple of providers out of the frame who produce only for primary. Is analysis, alerting and intervention key (well, more so than the norm in a school)? Hoe close to your LA are you, and what is their 'chosen' system? Happy to have a chat sometime if that would help you. Totally impartial advice only!
