I'm banging my way through My Mcsa/se and twiddling with CCNA. Are there any other certs out there that you guys have or that you think employers would like?

 

I've had a quick look at the ITIL stuff but wonder if thats a little above a simple tech in a small school.

think about your future. will you still be in a job you like come BSF? give yourself options.

as part of a managed service i'm relatively safe (hopefully!).

You could look at membership of the BCS - nice to have more post-nominal letters!

There is a really good forum that can give you advice on what ITIL involves.

 

Pop over to www.certforums.co.uk and have a look around. It is not specifically designed for school techies / NMs but a number of members are (senior mod is our very own simongrahamuk).

 

Let us know what route you decide to go and reasons why too.

It's not post-nominals or a certificate or training as such but you could join the IET as something to put down on your CV to show that you've got a personal interest in keeping up to date in the world of Technology. I'm a member, i get a nice studenty discount and some nice magazines in the post with some interesting developments in comms engineering (something i'm interested in obviously).

 

IET is quite engineering / technology based as opposed to computery...so it depends what side of computing/tech you're into i suppose.
