Cannot Install OldSIMSInst.exe

Hello, I am quite new here so I'm not 100% if I'm posting in the correct section. If so, could a forum moderator move this to the correct place?

 

I am currently experiencing an issue with the OldSIMSInst.exe

I am unable to install SIMS because of this issue and I can't seem to find any solution to it.

EDIT: I need to see/click on the Install button that clearly isn't present.

Any help or clue to what I could do to remedy this would be gratefully appreciated and thank you in advance.

Why are you trying to install an oldSimsinst onto a client PC?

 

To install SIms you want to run SimsInst.exe from the SetupS folder on the server.

What is the actual problem anyway? That you cannot see an 'OK' button?

 

If so when I can't see where I should click, try using the 'TAB' button on your keyboard. You should see it move from section to section on your screen. When it disappears from the last section and isn't visible anymore it is probably on the OK button. If it it cancels, you know it is one more press next time...

 

I've had to do this countless times when installing things on monitors that I can't see properly. Try changing the resolution of your monitor also, maybe something low like 800x600, it may be expecting an older screen size.

I am installing SIMS on a client's laptop because it's a teacher's and they needed. We install OldSIMSInst.exe first then SIMSInst.exe. Not sure why, that's what my manager just told me.

I also tried the screen resolution and that wasn't a success, though we did your "tab" suggestion and it worked perfectly, just a pain if you under/over hit it and have to start all over again.

This is the first laptop we've had issues with this sort of thing, it's a 1366x768 15,6" resolution, like other laptops we have but they don't seem to have the issue.

Stick and external display on it next time that is 4:3, should show you what you are used to.

It's just weird how it won't display correctly on that ONE machine that has the exact same resolution as the other laptops, but we'll give it a shot and post our result.

I just tested it on 4:3 resolution monitor and there's still nothing. This is what should come up;

Right click the file look in Properties the Details.

Yes mines the exact same version as yours, but for some reason it just displays different on that one machine, like the picture in my OP (Original Post).

I'm not sure why you are running 2 Simsinsts then.

try running the three files that are SIMSinst

SIMSInfrastructureSetup.exe

SIMSApplicationSetup.exe

SIMSManualSetup

then copy the SIMS.ini from a working PC

I'm not running 2 installers, I was just showing you one from a working PC in one of my posts.

I was quoting this. There is no reason I know of for running it twice, I have been installing SIMS for 15 years.

Oh we run the OldSIMSInst.exe first then the SIMSInst.exe. I am not entirely sure why though, I could ask my manager about it.

I just had a word with my manager and she said that we installed the OldSIMSInst.exe for the balland infrastructure because the newer install wouldn't install it.

But I just tested the newer install and it worked fine.
