Cannot install printer - interactive window

Hi,

 

Has anyone come across failing to being able to install local printers with the error 'This operation requires an interactive window station'

 

I found article on the web which mostly point to reinstallation of the OS.

 

I have wiped all the drivers from the system and all the printers but error reoccurred no matter if I search online or search for the driver.

Oh no, I need to install Windows 8

Joking aside I've never seen a message like this with printers before. Maybe look up instructions to remove the driver reg settings etc. manually in case bits have been left behind.

After much head scratching I downloaded a different driver and it worked, baffled me as the driver worked okay before.
