Moving deployed packages share

Is there anyway of moving the deployed packages share onto another server without all the packages being redeployed?

 

We used to have them all hosted on one of our DCs, but it started to run low on space and now we've bought a NAS I wanted to see if I could move the share across to it. However I'd imagine that if I did that all the packages would redeploy to all the stations across the entire network.

 

Is there anyway of avoiding this?

The biggest problem I can see is that if any of your MSI's need to repair and you have not redeployed they will error out as the install source is no longer available. Also some uninstall routines need the source MSI to remove as well.

If you redeploy it should not actually reinstall the packages, it should just do a repair check to see if its all setup correctly.

I'd like to know how that goes, just on the verges of setting my MSI installs to use DFS instead of shared folder access so let us know if there are any issues..
