edie209 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Hi I'm running Clarkconnect at home and I would like to be able to power down the system using the power button as in the soft touch in XP as I have no monitor or keyboard on this machine,is this possible in Linux? Clarkconnect is based on Red Hat vesion & I think if that makes a differance
m2d2 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Why not just SSH in and use the shutdown command. That's the better way to shutdown a server.
edie209 Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 I do normally do that, but there have been times when I have needed just to be able to push the button.
Geoff Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Install 'acpid' and enable the 'powerbutton' event handler.
edie209 Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 Thanks for that geoff thats working a treat! exactly what I wanted
