Strange NIC Problem

Hi all,

 

After any pointers on this odd one please;

 

A school I support had a power cut. Since then, then NIC in the server (Server 2008 R2) says that the cable is unplugged. I've tried known good cables and ports on the switch, but no difference. The reason it's odd is that whilst the server is booting and the green thing is scrolling while the OS starts, the LED on the switch by the port the server is plugged in to is lit. When it then gives the blue wall paper as it approcahes the logon screen, the LED goes out. Tried disabling/re-enabling and removing and re-installing. Any other ideas please?

Do you have a second [unused] network card on that server that you could swap to for testing?

Driver Issue ? You tried rolling back to a previous version of the driver or even re-installing the device driver ?

Was a device driver when I had that issue, was basically taking it down as Windows was loading the drivers on one of our old boxes here.

There's no second NIC unfortunately. I have tried re-installing the driver, but haven't tried rolling back to a previous. I'll give that a go. Thank you!
